Tapas (Bob)

It’s rumored that tapas originated as a clever way to keep flies out of drinks. By placing a chorizo patty over your beer mug, you could keep the flies out of your cerveza and enjoy a snack at the same time. I don’t know how true this is, but I do know that tapas are delicious. (In this part of Spain, tapas are called pinchos, but when you don’t speak Spanish well, you can call them anything you want.)

Last night, instead of going to a restaurant that serves special pilgrim menus, we went to an alley in the old town of Logroño that has a bunch of tapas bars. We wanted to do something special to celebrate a successful end of the Irish brothers’ 9-day pilgrimage. It was inexpensive, delicious, and fun, but we stayed out later than we should have given the long walk the next day.

Tapas. Yum.
