Day 8: Torres del Rio to Logroño (Bob)
Today was a 12-mile walk that went quickly. The weather report predicted lots of rain so we braced ourselves for the worst. It rained hard before we set out and hard after we arrived, but we escaped the worst. Just drizzle.
During these stages, I tend to zone out while walking through the countryside, and suddenly I get jolted out of my reverie by the spectacle of a city high on a hill, usually with a medieval church towering above the skyline. We usually stop in those towns to eat something or, if we’re lucky, stay there overnight.
Wendy and I are both working through our ailments. I wanted to point out that the Camino isn’t a grueling physical ordeal for a bunch of people. Some pilgrims walk 20 miles a day and feel fine. That’s not our case, but we’re having a great time.
